OK … whats your viewpoint peter … its not clear from this post …
We recently saw several National poohbahs smoked out to finally admit they were denialists … or as near as dammit to same. They looked and sounded distinctly uncomfortable in doing so.
To qualify … i think that climate change is an unproven issue. What surprises me is that the amount of money to be gained from being involved in climate change industries and the fearmongering attached to it …. is ideal for this freemarket(racketeering) world we now live in ….
I’m with Ivan on the unproven issue and wonder if much of the rationale is true. The upside is that, on the whole, the changes are a good thing and we need to reduce our impact on the planet. If only humans didn’t try to exploit the process!
I don’t doubt for a millisecond that the human population has had an enormous impact on Earth’s environment. I fail to see how man-made pollution of the seas, land and air, and actions such as deforestation — particularly human activity since the industrial revolution — can be thought to not have affected the climate.
Same with wildlife and species driven to extinction by loss of habitat.
OK … so what about Volcanoes, Tsunami, Earthquakes, Indigineous peoples burning off huge swathes of land for centuries (mayhap millenia), Meteors, etc etc etc ….
The Moa for instance and Harpagornis (giant NZ Eagle) rendered extinct pre the Industrial Revolution or european settlement … some argue that Maori’s indiscriminate search for food extinguished both??
Your response has no bases in fact Peter … you are drawing creationist type conclusions and saying … “of course it has…”
I’m not saying its wrong … or its right … i’m saying its unproven .. . and remains so.
The Dodo is extinct … was that European driven … the Dinosaurs are extinct … is that a modern phenomenon ….
I put it all down to BMW’s and their Drivers personally … and anyone who would wear trousers contributed by the indiscriminate slaughter of Moles is sheer hypocrisy. I’m reporting you to Russel Norman immediately … so there…
Craig is a rabid Christian Nutcase … to these folk the earth is given by god to do with as they will.
I support caring for the environment … i dont support believing anything (like God) that is unproven and unsubstantiable by clear facts – and elevating same to a “must do and believe” category.
I knew Christians who believed Halt all Racist Tours was evil and communist inspired … along with Trevor Hart and his supporters … nothing changes
I would say that Climate change dogmatists are like the Papacy of old … they use superstition designed for the age in which it was spawned … then they couple it with scaremongering and tactics that guarantee acceptance of ill-established “facts”
Doctors were regarded as sacrosanct in NZ and seated at the left hand of Jesus Christ and God the Father … till Prof Green at National Womens was sprung for knowing women had cervical cancer and then withholding those findings … much like Dr Mengele.
